GAMECOCK CLUB CONSTITUTION AND BY-LAWS
POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
1. BENEFICIARY POLICY
All membership levels pass to the member’s spouse as long as the spouse continues at least at the same level. As of January 1, 2008, new members joining at Golden Spur or above membership levels will have the benefits of naming a beneficiary once they and their spouse are deceased. The spouse and any other beneficiary must be listed on the “Gamecock Club Beneficiary” form along with social security and date of birth. The named beneficiary must be a relative within one generation of the original donor. No corporations, partnerships, limited liability companies, etc. can be a beneficiary.
2. DIVORCE POLICY
Ownership of membership will be left in the hands of the court. If the courts do not address, the primary contact listed on the application will be honored.
3. LIFETIME MEMBERSHIPS
The Gamecock Club will honor its contractual obligations of the past, but new memberships will not be established at this level of giving after January 1, 1992. Lifetime members who allow their memberships to lapse may not re-establish their memberships at this level but may revert to the regular Full Scholarship or Silver Spur giving levels (based on their respective contracts) upon providing written requests to the Gamecock Club.
4. GIVING LEVEL TICKET ALLOWANCES
Beginning with the 2008 giving year, the following ticket allowances are: Century – 2 first priority, Roundhouse – 4 first priority, Half Scholarship – 4 first priority/2 second priority, Full Scholarship – 4 first priority/4 second priority, Silver Spur – 4 first priority/4 second priority, Garnet Spur – 4 first priority/4 second priority, Golden Spur – 6 first priority/2 second priority, Platinum Spur – 6 first priority/2 second priority, Diamond Spur – 8 first priority/2 second priority. Members exceeding these allowances prior to 2008 may maintain all tickets going forward, provided they do not decrease their levels of giving.
5. OVER-PRIORITY TICKETS
Members previously purchasing over-priority tickets are grandfathered in and may maintain those tickets, whereas members who purchase new over-priority tickets in current seasons may not maintain tickets in perpetuity. Over-priority season tickets will be sold following the regular seat selection process and will be based on availability.
6. TRANSFERRING BENEFITS
Benefits – including but not limited to tickets, parking, and points – may not be transferred from one membership to another.
7. “IN MEMORY OF” MEMBERSHIPS
Memberships listed as “In Memory of” will not be allowed beginning January 1, 2007. Members in this category are required to adjust the name on the membership if they are to receive benefits.
8. PERSONAL MEMBERSHIP QUALIFICATIONS
A full name, mailing address, phone number, and date of birth are required on a membership application. Donors are strongly encouraged to provide an e-mail address, also. Joint memberships are not allowed unless married.
9. ROOST MEMBERSHIP
Beginning with the 2009 giving year, Roost members may purchase two (2) non-renewable, non-priority football season tickets based on availability. Roost members purchasing non-priority season tickets may renew their seats and parking by increasing to the Century level or higher for the following giving year. Members who decrease to the Roost level will have all existing season tickets and parking released from their accounts.
10. SUITE HOLDER MEMBERSHIP
Beginning with the 2013 giving year, anyone leasing a suite managed by the Athletics Department will be required to be a member of the Gamecock Club at a minimum giving level of Silver Spur. If there are multiple partners in a suite, a minimum of one partner must meet this requirement.
11. CHANGES TO GAMECOCK CLUB GIVING LEVEL
Members may decrease their giving levels at any time and maintain their points and consecutive years giving, providing their memberships do not lapse.
Members must maintain their giving levels to be eligible to renew season tickets purchased on their accounts, with the exception of members who are granted a one-year hardship.
A member requesting to permanently decrease his or her giving level but maintain ticket locations may be asked to provide documentation that he or she obtained said benefits at a lower giving level. These requests will be handled on a case-by-case basis and must be approved by the Board of Directors.
12. REVOCATION OF MEMBERSHIP
Membership in the Gamecock Club, including service on the Board of Directors and/or Executive Committee, is a privilege and not a right. As such, members are expected to be ambassadors for the University of South Carolina and its athletics program. Any illegal or unethical behavior or actions by any member that adversely impact the image, reputation, and good standing of the University of South Carolina’s athletics program, subjects the member to disciplinary action up to and including a revocation of membership. Said disciplinary action must be recommended in writing by the Executive Director and presented to the Executive Committee, at which time the affected member shall be given notice and the opportunity to be heard. Any recommended action by the Executive Committee must then be presented to the Board of Directors for final approval, at which time the affected member shall again be given notice and the opportunity to be heard.
13. PAYMENT POLICY
Payment for both membership and tickets must come from the donor listed on the account. The Gamecock Club and South Carolina Athletics Ticket Office reserve the right to refuse checks from a donor with a history of bad checks and payment plan installments.
14. HARDSHIP CASES
Matters involving hardship cases may be addressed at the discretion of the Executive Director on an immediate but temporary basis. Any and all such action must be brought before the Executive Committee at its regularly scheduled meeting at which time the affected member shall be given notice and the opportunity to be heard. The confirmation and/or approval of the Executive Committee is required for the action to continue in effect.
15. PRIORITY POINTS
Gamecock Club members may not combine points accumulated through multiple memberships under one membership. Members must maintain consecutive years of giving to maintain points. Should a membership lapse, the point total will reset to zero.
A. Effective January 1, 2007, Gamecock Club members will receive:
a. One (1) point for every $100 donation to the Athletics Department and/or Gamecock Club.
b. Two (2) points for each consecutive year of giving.
c. One (1) point for every season ticket purchased for football, baseball, and men’s and women’s basketball. The season tickets must be purchased through the Gamecock Club.
B. All points earned prior to January 1, 2007, will carry forward.
The Executive Director, at his discretion, may revoke parking privileges on an immediate but temporary basis. Any and all such action must be taken to the Executive Committee for the action to continue in effect.
17. PARKING ASSIGNMENTS
All parking will be assigned based upon a donor’s priority point ranking within the Gamecock Club. Non-season ticket holders do not have the opportunity to purchase parking passes.
18. MEMBERSHIP LIST POLICY
The membership lists provided to Chapter Presidents are not for distribution. Distribution of membership lists is a breach of the Club’s Code of Conduct, and the Chapter President and/or Chapter will be subject to disciplinary action if found to be in violation of this policy.
The Constitution and Bylaws may be amended at any time with a non-binding recommendation concerning each proposed amendment from the Executive Committee to the Board of Directors; by a majority vote of the Board of Directors; in compliance with University policy; and in accordance with the rules and/or limitations, where such apply, of the athletics associations and/or conferences of which, at the time, the University is a part.
